Cowichan Lake
Jackie Johnson cannot thank her sponsors enough, the Lady of
the Lake Society and Island Savings Credit Union, for this amazing experience.
She is currently attending Vancouver Island University in the Bachelor of Science
program in hopes to pursue her dream in becoming an Orthodontist.
Her spare time apart from school she spends at her two
part-time jobs at Island Pharmacy, as a cashier, and at March Meadows Golf
Course, as a server. Jackie is actively volunteering in her community whether
it is the yearly town clean-up, the Lady of the Lake program, or helping out at
numerous bottles drives.
If Jackie could experience anything once it would be to fly
to Buckingham Palace and provoke the Queens guardsmen, to be off guard.
One piece of advice Jackie would like to share with everyone
is: Give a girl the correct footwear
and she can conquer the world!

"You miss 100% of the shots you never take" Wayne Gretzky
Joseph
is a seventeen year old male from Merritt and enjoys music, food and
friends. He is currently attending Merritt Secondary School and is in
his graduating year. After school he plans on working for a year and
then going to school, UVIC, TRU or OUBC, to become a teacher and
perhaps in the very end, a politician.
Joseph plays almost
every single sport that is available to him including (but not limiting
to) soccer, football, bowling, badminton, hockey, swimming, baseball,
long boarding, running, basketball and weight lifting. He plays both
competitively and non competitively and tries to push himself as much as
his body will allow.
In the same way he pushes himself in
sports, Joseph pushes himself in community involvement. Taking part in
several different groups focused on helping children and teens become
all that they can be, such as Ambassadors and Smart Step, Joseph takes
great joy and even greater understanding. Alongside that, he helps at
his church youth group and often volunteers at the soup kitchen.
